Question about popping scalp pimples, scar tissue, and its effect on the hair follicle
Hey everyone.
So around 5 months ago, while doing DT (scalp massage) therapy, I formed a pimple on my hairline. I continued to do the massage, but trying to work around the pimple (it was rather large), as to avoid popping it. I believe I unintentionally popped it though, as in my attempt to avoid it, I remember feeling pain every now and then when passing over the area. It scabbed, eventually healed, but seems to have left a very minor discoloration in the area. Im not sure if it scarred or not. Maybe the discoloration will eventually go away. Also, it seems in this tiny area, there is a little deadzone where even vellous doesnt seem to grow.
Its a very small spot, and to be honest, it might've always been barren like that, as I dont even know if this is a scar or not.
My questions:
1) Can the inflammation from popping a rather large pimple completely destroy the underlying hair follicles? Or is it more likely the surface scar tissue clogs the hair follice, giving the appearance it has died off?
2) If the latter is true, would it be possible that something like dermarolling the scar tissue away could bring the follicle back to life?
Much thanks to anyone in the know/anyone with experience in this regard!
