In my experience most of these types of oils are rancid, just smell them. You see some of the stuff down the local Holland & Barrett sat on warm shelves for months, eugh. They don't even have dark bottles to prevent light degradation.

Get some fish caught fresh from the sea, have their livers direct. All the co-factors, plus a bunch more, minimal rancidity.

You have utterly failed to show anything bad about cod liver oil itself.

You're talking about an oil made by a company which was:

(1) rancid
(2) diluted w/ veggie oil
(3) from a different fish in some cases

So you found a company scamming people.

You found a bad egg.

You've done nothing to disprove the benefits of a quality cod liver oil.

Feel bad for the people who fell for this after following some commercialised Orthorexic Mom circlejerk blogger Could have been me a couple years ago.

Personally I stick to IFOS certified fish oil and fresh batches of cold pressed flax, primarily for brain repair. I'd only buy organic liver in general. After one time my dog wouldn't even go near the leftovers, I stopped buying regular supermarket liver.

fish mongers who have fresh daily stock and the fish iced as soon as caught etc.

think they sells tins of actual cod liver on continental europe. I assume these are prob less rancid too. but don't know for sure.

I researched this quite heavily a few years back, looking at totox, peroxide values etc. 95%+ of fish oils I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. there are one or two decent ones out there, but they are the exception

it's just not worth it,

and for what ? vitamin a and d ?

seems an awfully longwinded way to get those nutrients,

what brand are you taking ?

like you said, it's the "brand" that's the problem, not the oil itself
