Yes, in this context it is just partial inhibition. Also there are many more influential factors in that process that were not mentioned. Here's more info:

Thanks CS, so let me get this straight. "Partial inhibition" meaning the skin can revive or replace dead follicles if the cause of MPB is treated??? Or through wounding (i.e. derma rolling)?

MMP-9 may allow the formation of the initial lumen, which is supposed to prepare the hair canal for the hair shaft emergence and preventing its walls from a damage induced by the growing hair fiber. So it's never completely blocked (or inhibited), also it is regulated by other factors, such as Wnt, TGF-beta, bone morphological proteins, etc.

When MMP-9 concentration or in the milieu is indicative of inflammation and/or poor wound healing. In terms of how MMP-9 affects hair follicles you can read more about it here. MMP-9 though is just only one part, there's much more involved in AGA.

Ideally though, a lower level/expression of MMP-9 by reducing the inflammation is the aim.

I was just wondering if you could address the regrowth issue in your next vid, I know you've had personal success with this. My self and maybe others on this forum have stopped or significantly reduced shedding... so we're now working towards regrowth.

Kim et al., for the first time, report a detailed study on the inhibitory effects of phlorotannins in brown algae, Ecklonia cava (EC) on MMP activities. A novel gelatin digestion assay could visualize complete inhibition of bacterial collagenase-1 activity at 20 μg/ml of EC extract during preliminary screening studies. Sensitive fluorometric assay revealed that EC extract can specifically inhibit both MMP-2 and MMP-9 activities significantly (P<0.001) at 10 μg/ml. In addition, artificially induced activities of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in human dermal fibroblasts and HT1080 cells were inhibited by EC extract in a more or less similar manner to the positive control doxycycline. More interestingly, EC extract did not exert any cytotoxic effect even at 100 μg/ml, anticipating, its potential use as a safe MMP inhibitor [34].

Kazbar - Yes, that was mentioned in the 1st video. Actually videos 2 and 3 are already made, so there is more explanation, however there are so many inflammatory pathways, that only some are mentioned briefly.
