Peanuts were destroying my hair!
A few years back I gradually cut out carbs from cereal, bread, anything with added sugar including art. sweeteners, even fruit. I was in denial for years about carbs/sugar because anytime I ate something sweet my scalp would itch and hair shedding would go thru the roof but I didn't want to believe it was sugar because I was addicted to the stuff (as most people are if you look at the number of people who are chubby, overweight and obese) so I blamed the doses of RU, Dut and fin I was taking, thinking that I was either taking too much or not enough etc. I eventually came to terms with my diet when I looked in the mirror one day at the sides and back of my scalp and saw bald spots! I freaked out and realized I was running out of time to get my hair loss under control so I cut out the carbs except for vegetables, began eating more nuts and cheese but I ate a very large amount of peanuts and peanut butter. Anyway, my scalp stopped itching and my hair thickened up.
About a year ago, while still on my clean diet, my scalp, scrotum and chest began to itch again but I couldn't figure out why. Also, I had really bad dandruff with hair loss in the shower of around 60 - 80 hairs every time. I eventually narrowed it down to the peanuts and within about 3-4 days, the itching stopped along with the massive shedding and in about 3 months my hair thickened considerably. Even the dandruff disappeared in less than a week. Something else I discovered recently. I bought cashew butter which contained sunflower oil and within a couple days of eating it, the itching, shedding and dandruff returned. I knew it wasn't the cashews because I eat them all the time with no problem so it must have been the added sf oil.
Anyway, hope this can help someone. Wish I had this info when I was in my teens, I'd probably still have a full hairline.

Peanuts are very high in oxalates I believe, could be something to look into.

They are also one of the highest source of mycotoxins

Found this website on lowering oxalate, according to this website oxalate interferes with the trafficking of glutathione.
Glutathione is paramount for hair I think. Need CS's opinion on this.

The mycotoxin situation is important for some people.
However, the oxalate part is exclusive to fewer people.
In fact some people benefit from oxalates because it brings more oxygen into the system.
Where things can do wrong is if there is an absence of the right microbes, for example Oxalobacter formigenes.
Oxalate is ingested in a wide range of animal feeds and human foods and beverages and is formed endogenously as a waste product of metabolism. Bacterial, rather than host, enzymes are required for the intestinal degradation of oxalate in man and mammals. The bacterium primarily responsible is the strict anaerobe Oxalobacter formigenes.
In humans, this organism is found in the colon. O. formigenes has an obligate requirement for oxalate as a source of energy and cell carbon. In O. formigenes, the proton motive force for energy conservation is generated by the electrogenic antiport of oxalate2− and formate1− by the oxalate–formate exchanger, OxlT. The coupling of oxalate–formate exchange to the reductive decarboxylation of oxalyl CoA forms an ‘indirect’ proton pump. Oxalate is voided in the urine and the loss of O. formigenes may be accompanied by elevated concentrations of urinary oxalate, increasing the risk of recurrent calcium oxalate kidney stone formation. Links between the occurrence of nephrolithiasis and the presence of Oxalobacter have led to the suggestion that antibiotic therapy may contribute to the loss of this organism from the colonic microbiota. Studies in animals and human volunteers have indicated that, when administered therapeutically, O. formigenes can establish in the gut and reduce the urinary oxalate concentration following an oxalate load, hence reducing the likely incidence of calcium oxalate kidney stone formation. The findings to date suggest that anaerobic, colonic bacteria such as O. formigenes, that are able to degrade toxic compounds in the gut, may, in future, find application for therapeutic use, with substantial benefit for human health and well-being.

i'm not sure the oxalates in the peanuts were the problem because I eat other nuts that are high in oxalates.

Peanut allergies are now common. It is believed they are reactive due to vaccines that were laced with peanut oil.

I think it's OK to have organic peanut butter from a reputable brand, once in a while.
