GSE and Liquorice topical solution
Hi everyone.
I wish to make a topical made famous by Waseda some years ago. It revolves around liquorice and GSE as well as some other ingredients which I have a tough time getting in Australia, such as bayberry, perilla leaf and amacha.
I do use a liquorice and GSE (2 capsules) extract with some salicylic powder added in and I find it's as good as anything I've used before.
However I am confused as to which GSE is more potent.
I use Swanson's http://www.swansonvitamins.com/SWH081/ItemDetail?n=4294967192 which is 200mg of GSE per capsule, however http://goldenglow.com.au/product.asp?pID=41&cID=85 sell this phytosome GSE product which says, "Each capsule contains: Vitis vinifera (Grape Seed) extract equiv. dry seed (4g) 4000mg." It doesn't actually say 4000mg of GSE but "the equivalent of 4000mg of grape seed".
The instructions for Morehairin http://www.hairsite2.com/waseda/morehairin/forum1to20.htm say "Add 10g-15g (10000mg-15000mg) Grape Seed Extract (pure powder) and stir it."
If I were to use 10g-15g (10000mg-15000mg) of GSE from Swanson's then that's 50-75 capsules of GSE in 420ml of liquid. That seems like a lot.
Something doesn't seem quite right here.
Has anyone had any experience with Morehairin or anything to guide me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Christos.

Re: GSE and Liquorice topical solution
Christos - In this case since it is a topical, you'll want to buy a 90% polyphenol grape seed extract. Do not buy the phytosome version because they is quite expensive and intended for internal use which is designed to increase the half-life.
I think your best bet is to get this in powdered form from here:
http://www.easycart.net/BeyondACenturyInc./Antioxidants.html#2059
Grapeseed Extract Powder, ACTIVIN
PURE GRAPE SEED EXTRACT POWDER, ACTIVIN. ActiVin is an all-natural, red grape seed extract rich in powerful plant-based antioxidants called proanthocyanidins. These antioxidants can help protect against the effects of internal and environmental stresses*. 50 grams, $12.50, Code 205.9 ActiVin is a trademark of Dry Creek Nutrition, Inc.

Re: GSE and Liquorice topical solution
Thanks Immortalhair.
I was about to buy the liposome GSE
I re-read some more of Waseda's instructions and it seems like I do need about 100 to 150 GSE capsules for 420ml of solution. It equates to 1 capsule for 4ml and I mixed a capsule in last night with 4mls of solution. It looked like someone poured wine over my head. This might be OK for those with black hair and somewhat adequate cover, but my hair is light brown with grey specks in it. I guess I have to use it late at night.
