The blood flow theory and sitting.
So the blood flow theory of balding basically says you bald because lack of blood flow to the scalp.
I wonder how much sitting decreases the blood flow to the scalp?
I've had an office job for the last year and my hair loss really accelerated upon getting the office job. Didn't have an office job before. There are other factors obviously (stress).
I've read that shallow chest breathing decreases blood flow. It's hard to take full deep breaths while sitting down.

Re: The blood flow theory and sitting.
I also found this link which gives some tips for increasing blood flow to the scalp:
http://relaxedhairhealth.blogspot.com/2009/04/six-stimulating-strategies-that-supply.html
The tips are:
1) Exercise
2) Massage
3) Stimulating Products - mentions certain shampoos or other topicals
4) Foods
5) Cold Showers
6) Belly Breathing
sound familiar??
Weight Lifting, DT, Peppermint Soap, Cold Showers, Meditation.

sitting for long periods is really bad, it is bad for the back, prostate and nitric oxide levels - without nitric oxide the body
has less pump available.
nitric oxide is actually a free radical and so requires a healthy immune system as well, but it will strengthen the capillaries
everywhere, esp in the scalp

Re: The blood flow theory and sitting.
Everyone knows sitting for long periods of time is bad in a bunch of ways, the question is how much of a factor is it in MPB? Why? And what to do about it?

Lots of reasons:
1) NO levels are lower
2) Lymph congestion is higher, because there is less movement
3) Prostate is compressed and that affects thole whole CNS
One way to tell how much it affects MBP is to see how many times you get 'piss shivers'... if you don't feel a good sensation
after a full urination then your arrector pili muscles are not working well enough, these tiny muscles 'work out' the hair
and move stagnation.
When you don't move, your whole CNS relaxes way too much.

tDo you think a standing desk helps a lot?
What do people with office jobs do to fix this? This could partly explain why literally everyone in my office has thin hair or is balding.

Re: The blood flow theory and sitting.
try sitting at ur desk on a exercise ball. to maintain balance u have to constantly roll round ur trunk. its great for the belly.
also u could try one of those ergonomic chairs. they can open up ur airways.

Make sure you keep moving, don't sit around for more than 20 minutes (have a timer), you can do kegels at your desk
and other muscle contractions.
