Re: High Prolactin Levels.
How is your thyroid? Low thyroid boost prolactin.
Try to raise dopamine, dopamine antagonizes prolactin, you can try L-tyrosine or L-dopa and see how you react, monitor your symptoms carefully.
I have read that vitamin b6 and E can lower prolactin too.

I don't know, but I suppose it will be better to use both. But I tell you I have borderline high prolactin levels and never felt any improvement with those sups. L-tyrosine made me anxious and b6 and E did nothing.
Anyways, check this:

Re: High Prolactin Levels.
dont use any dopa to tackle prolactin, resolve the reason why its high first. In my case it was low vitamin d which cause prathyroid hormone to increase prolactin levels, b12 and zinc are also directly related. check these if u have money on hand, if not try and supplement with them but be careful excess zinc can cause hair loss as it block aromatase and increases DHT as a result, the theory that zinc inhibits dht is exclusive to topical application only.

Re: High Prolactin Levels.
ejaculation causes a temporary increase in prolactin which can stay elevated for up 2 a week in some individuals, my hair always thins for a few days after i ejaculate.

Re: High Prolactin Levels.
wow so you think absistenance would help lower prolactin?
im supplementing with vitd3 1000iu.
i need this lowered asap, its having detrimental affects on mood, concentration, vission, penis all because of minoxidil. It is in the same league as propecia in terms of side effects imo.

Don't deprive yourself of ejaculation to tackle prolactin either....resolve the reason it is high/ stays high first.YAER wrote:dont use any dopa to tackle prolactin, resolve the reason why its high first.
For people that are addicted to sex or compulsive masturbation perhaps that will give you some clues as to what is going on with your hormonal balance and your hair.
It makes more sense that the behavior is the overriding symptom in these cases and not the actual cause. Abstinence is not the answer, just like dopa is not the answer.

Re: High Prolactin Levels.
Moderation is key....don't fear sex or ejaculation except for excess.
Since I haven't loss any hair in years, I no longer suffer the ill effects of sex induced inflammation...This is due
to holistic treatment.
Address inflammation.
Elevated prolactin is often a sign of hypothyroidism (something discussed a lot here).
In men, this can cause hair loss. Many things affect prolactin levels.
As YAER mentioned, boost that D3....1,000 IU is not likely to be enough.
I would start at 5,000 IU and assess a few months later.
Minoxdil is just plain poison....can't believe it's discussed on some threads...glad it was mentioned
here in the sense of something to avoid. As reported, there was a two year test with Minoxidil, under normal dosing on rats, which caused pheochromcytomas in both male and females preputial gland adenoma in males. Symptoms of this includes headache, sweating, palpitations, elevated blood pressure, anxiety, nausea, tremors, etc.
I think caution about zinc is unwarranted...it is an essential element....won't go a day without this stuff....essential for proper thyroid conversion, immune and brain health. 15 mg is a nice amount...it won't harm anyone.
