Hair Laser Treatment

I recently spent 3 sessions at a hair clinic having laser treatment using one of those drop down hoods. Don't ask me the make or model I'm completely new to this.
I noticed that my hair became thicker but for what reason?
Did the laser treatment dry out my hair in some way, could anyone help me out here.
I'm now thinking of buying a laser helmet rather than spending $$$$ at the hair clinic.
