Auditory processing disorder
As an adult in my upper 30's, I feel that I have struggled auditory processing disorder for all my life. Looking back, I even think there are times where I will read a set of instructions or a manual on something and it will take me a couple of reads to get the material to sink in. Another thing is that my son and I are learning guitar. He is 10 and passing me shamefully with retention and memorization of the chords etc.
So, I am wondering if there is anything that I can do about this? I do take the IH supplements and then some. I saw someone talking about Nootropics once, but wondered if this was safe or not...
Thanks,

Re: Auditory processing disorder
Renky, please ignore hairbeauty...likely a spammer selling hairweaves, and regardless doesn't know what s/he's talking about if thinks "upper 30's" is elderly.
You're actually describing two different things. Auditory processing problems have to do with what you hear, yet you also describe trouble with comprehension when you see (read).
Have you been diagnosed with ADD or dyslexia or anything like that? Ever looked into it?

Tell us about your sleep cycle, whether or not you're a planner type, do you get bored easily?, does your mind jump from topic to topic, are you late a lot? is your mood consistent?

Re: Auditory processing disorder
Thanks for getting back to me.
I would say that I am an even keel kind of person. I am not particularly moody or anything like that. I am not usually bored either. I am very happy with my own company. My wife thinks I am a little quirky (not weird or anything). I have had to learn social queues a little better, but I have never been anything like Rain Man. I do run late a lot. I have never been diagnosed with ADD or anything like that either. I am not sure if this helps? I have noticed my concentration lately has been very average.
Has anyone heard of nootropics? Someone said these really helped them with concentration, clarity and memory retention.
Thanks.

Re: Auditory processing disorder
I also take magnesium citrate, but am not sure if that is helping? Maybe it is and I would be worse without it?
Thanks.
Thanks.
