Hair Transplant - Age
What is the minimum age that I can get a hair transplant? My friend's brother is looking for Hair Transplant and went to Seager Hair Transplant in Toronto. They said it is 20 years.

Re: Hair Transplant - Age
I dont see why thered be a minimum age. It's not like it interferes with hormones which may be needed for your adequate mature development. I mean if there are age limitations on general surgery thats the only basis I can see, but people undergo surgery.
The other thing I could see is if you get a HT and then you continue to bald, it could render your HT a waste.
So for HT to be a good solution, you need to get your balding under control as well.

Re: Hair Transplant - Age
I initially got a hair transplant consultation when I first started losing hair, when I questioned the clinic owner on whether or not I was old enough he said that he had done work on kids as young as 16, that's here in Canada.

if you are in US look into Dr Cole. he claims to have been getting donor hair regeneration via his technique of leaving as much adipose tissue as possible in the donor region, coupled with his use of extracellular matrices.

Re: Hair Transplant - Age
Hi guys, Thanks for your valuable information. I recently went to the clinic (Seager Hair transplant) with my friend for enquiry and they said there are also other hair restoration options available. The doctor was so patient in answering us and said the hair loss may be due to different reasons like poor diet, chronic disease, climate changes. He gave a medicine to try out and if that work, then a transplant is not needed.

Re: Hair Transplant - Age
Hi Mark,
It's a good question. Many men tend to lose hair through androgenetic alopecia pretty early on in life. For some guys it can be as young as 16 or 17. This can devastate your early years - it has a very deep effect on personal as well as social life.
Well usually transplant surgeons have preferred a minimum age of 21 or 25 for potential transplant patients. However Ideally no one would be having transplant surgery under the age of 21. For most men the actual final hair loss pattern probably won't be established for a few years after they begin losing hair. So what we should consider here is not necessarily an age - it's how advanced our hair loss is.
