Re: Vitamin-Boosted Stem Cells Show Promise in Curing Baldness
This really seems like liquid D should be used topically. It makes a lot of sense. The question is what form?
from http://www.truthinaging.com/face/dr-dennis-gross-active-vitamin-d-serum-oil-reviewed-and-recommended
"Vitamin D delivered topically is a novel approach but not without controversy within the dermatological community. In order for vitamin D to be effective, it has to pass through the liver and kidneys to become active. Vitamin D applied topically is not circulatory. However, Dr. Gross’s formula contains D2 or ergocalciferol, a plant-based source of vitamin D, which Dr. Gross argues is already an active form of vitamin D. Yet ergocalciferol is considered unstable as it’s affected by air and by light. Dr. Gross has compensated for this by packaging the product in a dark bottle with a dropper. Another point of contention is the efficacy of D2 (ergocalciferol) vs. D3 (cholecalciferol). Both forms are considered effective, but D3 is the kind the body makes. Some studies suggest that D3 can be up to three times more effective. However, Dr. Gross’s product is oil based, and there isn’t any comparative data on the stability of D3 vs. D2 in oil."

That's correct. If you read a few of the passages on the previous link, you will see this specific question was addressed.
In general, I find that rarely anything in the human body is ever 100% negative. Any particular protein or signalling molecule is influenced by many others, and all to often, it's easy to get caught up into something being always bad. This is mainly the reason why pharmaceuticals are so dangerous.
For example, Etanercept (trade name Enbrel) was the first "approved" TNF-alpha blocker that 'treats' some autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, etc.
Normally it is thought that TNF-alpha is "bad," yet blocking it will do more than just dampen inflammation, it will render the body's defense system to be helpless against fatal infections.
Vitamin D3 (never D2), should be taken internally along with vitamin A (animal form) for proper regulation.

Probably not. All CLO products are different and the processing determines that.

CS, you have a lot of positive experience with Vit. D.
Have you ever tried it topically? D2 or D3?

I haven't. Vitamin D regulates over 2,000 genes, and it is needed systemically. When used with vitamin A (from animal sources) it will work much better and help regulate the androgen receptor. Would not use D2, only D3.
Several years ago, noticed that high vitamin D cod liver oil definitely improved my hair. However, now that more information exists, I take 10,000 IU of D3 and 10,000 IU of vitamin A.

Because this Dr. Gross says that D2 is better topically, maybe using a mixture of D3 and D2 topically will cover the bases.
I've got this Micell-A-25 which is a water-soluable Vit. A. It's supposed to be good so as not to run into overdose problems with the fat-soluable A.

Moby, that's quite a statement considering that:
“Vitamin D” is in quotes here because it is not a vitamin at all — in its active form it is the most powerful steroid hormone in our bodies.
It's often the correct application of a treatment, that makes it work. That's where the hard part comes in.
This is interesting:

How about scotch emulsion?
Emulsions contain Vitamin D because it has cod liver oil. It is also a good source of Vitamin E.

CS,
Looking at your current regimen I don't see any Vitamin A supplement listed. Do you have any recommendations as to a certain brand?
