Do nothing, it will grow out by itself! In the future, cut your nails straight and leave the edges alone......

thank pancacke , but i think the condition is past this stage its worse than healing up on its own .. i even stopped playing football since i cant run .. i think it needs surgery of some kind.

Re: O\T ingrown toenail
Of course it's getting worse, it's growing through your skin.....once grown out it will be okay again.
I'd use a thick bandage when necessary and pause certain acitivties if too painful. Surgery is not productive as recoverytime takes just as long as if you leave it alone.
edit: see a doctor and ask if surgery is necessary.....in these cases you can trust a "good" doctors opinion!

Re: O\T ingrown toenail
Ive had 3 of them. All 3 of them had barbs literally curling into my flesh that I could not get to myself. The first time I got it cut out and it came back a year later. After that I had the doctor cut the sliver of nail off and put some acid where he cut so that it wouldnt grow back that way again. Its been 15 years now and my toes are perfect.
I most definitely recommend getting it removed. Thats not a pain I liked having at all. The recovery is a week or so. You can walk just fine, you just have to keep it bandaged up.
