Starches question Empty Starches question

Post  Quisque Mon Dec 06, 2010 9:59 am

Few days ago my GF asked me why I don't rinse the excessive starch away when cooking rice or buckwheat. I am just not used to do it but I know it's a world well-known routine. Actually I don't have a clue whether is it better for my hair/health or not. Maybe it is just a waste of my money. Could anyone explain me this?

Amylum starch is a carbohydrate composed of many glucose units through glycosidic bonds. This polysaccharide is produced by all green plants to store energy. The starch is processed to produce a lot of sugar in processed foods. Once dissolved in hot water can be used as a thickener, reinforcing or bonding agent wheatpaste delivery.
