Propylene Glycol
Though I have been off Propecia for quite some time now, I am still using minox. In the past, I had heard about studies that linked PG in deodorant to Alzheimer's. However, I also remember reading an explanation from Tom's of Maine, regarding their toothpaste, where they defended the use of PG, saying that no study had ever proved it to have adverse effects. Anyway, I recently tossed the generic minox. from the drug store in favor of Dr. Lee's Xandrox formula, figuring that it might give me a little more hair. In an effort to reduce the amount of chemicals being absorbed into my body, I opted for the non-PG version. The problem is that the formula dries like cement on my head, and has subsequently, dried my hair really, really bad. I don't know if this is the lack of PG or the addition of Azelaic Acid, but I can't use this specific combination any longer. I will call Dr. Lee's today and get their take on the dryness aspect, but I was wondering what your thoughts on PG were. I know you're not a fan of minox. in the first place, but in the battle against hair loss -- one I am losing as I round out a year of being off Propecia -- I wonder if either minox. and PG are the lesser evils. Thanks in advance.

Re: Propylene Glycol
NewReg - Alzheimer's is better linked with the Aluminum found in deodorant more so than PG. Studies have confirmed that our bodies do absorb the Aluminum found in deodorant.
Fluoride in toothpaste acts as a carrier for Aluminum. Fortunately, Alzheimer's is much easier to prevent than the media would have have us believe.
Both Fluoride and Aluminum can be removed from taking iodine and lithium orotate, but that's another subject.
PG can cause an allergic reaction in some users, so some products come without the PG, and may enhance efficacy.

Is it possible to self-test if one has too much bad shit in the body, for i.e aluminum?

Misirlou - There are self tests that can be ordered to find out if you have excess Aluminum.
