What is a good way to kill this yeast in the scalp, apple cider vinegar? Seabuckthorn soap?

Re: malassezia furfur
To inhibit it 'completley' like you said CS would one need to add extra lithium? Or is the amount given on the topical page enough to nullify Malassezia?

isaac - If someone is "Lithium sensitive" then seabuckthorne is the way to go, but given enough lithium, it should do the job.

Hi CS, what is the lithium topical you refer to? I have tried most of the supps recommended by people and have totally changed my diet (gluten free paleo) 3 months ago, and yet my scalp inflammation/ itch is at its worse, its almost intolerable.
I wouldnt be surprised if I have some sort of fungus, but I am not scientifically minded and I just dont know, I feel totally exhausted by this. Every penny of my money has gone on pills and food to try to help my hair loss/ inflammation and I feel like I've hit a brick wall. Can you help me?

I went on to the "way back machine" to retrieve the lithium formula I used to have on my site. I removed it for several reasons. However, it does work for those who have a lot of either itch or excessive sebum.
The only thing is, the links on where to buy it have changed. I would suggest looking for them on Ebay.

Thanks CS. What in your opinion are the most important supplements to help with scalp inflammation? And once one hits the miniturization stage is there any way back from that? i.e. is it possible to restore the natural thickness of each hair shaft?

I wish I could give you a definitive answer. Unfortunately, everyone is different--in the respect that the specific cause(s) of their inflammation can be caused/triggered differently.
Several years ago I had significant miniaturization--when I turned on the bathroom lights the scalp appeared bald. However, this is not longer the case, my hairs have returned and have re-developed into thick shafts.
I list will my personal top three, however beyond the supplements themselves which can be crucial, addressing the cause can be a make or break scenario for many.
There are literally hundreds of hidden causes. I realize this might seem difficult to imagine, but it doesn't take much to stimulate the AGA...because males are highly sensitive to toxins due to the higher androgen levels.
So knowing which are the most powerful can make a difference.
Also to make matters a little more complicated, often we can have a combination of AGA, alopecia areata and telogen effluvium. Further, there is then a question of whether the hair loss is nonscarring or scarring (cicatricial alopecia)
Early on in my battle against hair loss (early 1990's) I was wondering why reducing androgens was only partially helpful...definitely wasn't the full picture.
As far as top supplements go, I like Ecklonia Cava, Curcumin/Resveratrol combination and Krill Oil. Each work in a different manner.
However, understanding medical history of an individual can take things a lot further. One crucial step for most is dealing with heavy metals. This is because they bio-accumulate into the glands and cause hormonal imbalances.

Hi CS, thanks for giving me that detailed reply, I appreciate the time you put into it.
i was taking Humic minerals by Vital Earth Minerals but I really felt it wasnt doing anything after a month so I got rid of it. I was also taking (at a different time) HealthForce Nutritionals ZeoForce and I felt it made me very tired so I stopped taking it, but maybe that was a sign it was working? I don't know.

You might/probably need something stronger.....however, what you said in the last sentence was key. Feeling tired. Detoxification takes a very long time, and part of the healing process involves some discomfort.
One of the biggest ironies in natural healing is that when a side-effect (detoxification) occurs, many people stop taking it. However, in this case it is necessary to continue.
I stopped my hair loss several years ago--but I still detox. These metals bio-accumulate over a life time. Provided they are excreted faster they can reabsorb, body chemistry will be normal. To begin with, there is lot of time necessary to get full functionality back first. This takes not weeks or months, but often much, much longer.
