What do you guys think the best juicer is? I like the high power blenders which you can just throw in the whole fruit or veggie but does that damage the nutrients in anyway?

From what I understand, the heat and violence of the juicing in a centrafugal juicer causes enzymes and nutrients to be lost. Hurom has a decent video on their site showing the difference in color between their juicer (mastocating) and a high powered centrafugal juicer. It's pretty plain as day.

I have an Omega 8003, and that works really well. Its pretty affordable for a single gear masticating juicer, and the pulp that comes out as waste is much drier than it was with my older Jack Lalanne joint. Not to mention you get more juice with a mastocating juicer with less noise.

Shouldn't you eat the pulp?.

I make green smoothies with a variety of vegetables and just throw them into a ordinary blender, works fine for me.

The pulp that comes out is real dry, so there isn't a ton you can do with it. Blending is good for smoothies and the like, but when you get into the serious juicing it's all about getting all that nutrition into without having to waste energy on digesting the plant fiber. Slow juicers are good for the because there's no spinning blades to cause heat that breaks down the natural enzymes in what you're juicing.

I suppose it's all about why you want to juice. If you're juicing because fresh juice is delicious, any juicer would probably do. It seems like just about everyone who talks about juicing for health, though, says to stay away from anything with spinning blades and high heat.

CS-

Do you still use a juicer even though that you are a protein type? Does a juicer provide any benefit to a protein type? And do you use the Omega juicer?

Thanks

I have the breville juice fountain elite and like it. Had the jack lalanne for about 2.5yrs before it died. The breville is 2 years and still going like new.
