Drop in Basal Temp...
I just don't get it. In five months I went from a basal temp of 96.9 to a lousy 96.5 average. I thought maybe it was a temporary regression, but obviously not. Now I can actually 'feel' my inflammation when I touch down on my scalp, whereas before it was invisible.
Here's what I'm doing...
Lugos Iodine (8 drops)
Selenium (300mcg)
Indium (3 drops in the morning)
Raw Thyroid (1 a day)
Top Six
Mag oil, lots of Vit C, clay, and some others.
Cut out MSG, Gluten from diet (complete 180)
Is there any logical reason why my thyroid is in a worse condition than before?

Re: Drop in Basal Temp...
Can you post a link to your selenium you're taking?
Also, try the salt water protocol.
Also, try the salt water protocol.
Salt Loading Protocol for Possible Bromide Side Effects
Orthoiodosupplementation induced and increased mobilization of bromine from
storage sites, with increased urinary excretion of bromide. --Guy Abraham, MD
Certain iodine-literate doctors feel the bromide excreted by iodine therapy
can be eliminated more efficiently by the chloride present in mineral-rich
unprocessed sea salt. The salt is added to water in a specific way. Eating
salty food is not effective. Table salt is only used in an emergency.
Many iodine takers found the Salt Loading Protocol devised by Dr. William
Shevin (and presented at the February '07 Iodine Conference) to be
effective in eliminating the side effects such as bromide sedation, acne,
brain fog, brassy taste, mouth sores, frontal headache or other symptoms
which occur in a small percentage of patients.
* 1/4 teaspoon salt dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water. Follow immediately
with 12-16 oz pure water.
* Repeat in 30-45 minutes if needed. May repeat again until copious
urination begins.
* Observe subjective response (usually within several hours).
* Iodine Investigation Project participants have found 1/2 teaspoon salt
dissolved in the recommended amount of water works faster than the
1/4 teaspoon dosage.
* Pulse dosing of iodine has often helped our participants with detox
symptoms: taking a two day break from iodine supplementation as needed
seems to enhance the kidneys' ability to excrete bromide. These are only our
observations as educated patients. Consult your own physician about your
particular iodine regimen.
No consensus exists on how important the salt loading may be to an iodine
therapy strategy if the patient does not have adverse symptoms.
Be sure to ask your doctor before implementing salt loading or any medical
strategy.

Re: Drop in Basal Temp...
Am I right in thinking that short bursts of fairly intense exercise a few times a week would be very helpful for boosting thyroid function? I know that an interval or sprints session for example raises heart rate for hours after you finish. Might be something else to think about if you don't do something similar already.
Slightly off-topic, can anyone link me to a good basal thermometer? When I search Amazon UK most products seem to be digital and I'm not sure if that's ok. Do I need to get one with mercury? (I'd prefer not to tbh).

Re: Drop in Basal Temp...
Jdp... I took three bottles of the discontinued stuff on CS's page. I JUST started taking this...
http://www.luckyvitamin.com/p-28562-source-naturals-selenium-yeast-free-from-l-selenomethionine-200-mcg-60-tablets
However, am I taking enough of it? I did 400mcg for a while but noticed no difference. Should I up it to 6? Maybe higher?

Re: Drop in Basal Temp...
Serge,
You're fine with 400 mcg. I doubt 600 mcg would make a difference regarding temperature.
I just wanted to make sure you were taking either selenomethionine or methylselenocysteine and not one of the other forms of selenium.
And again, what could cause the drop in temp. is if you've stirred up some halogens without chelating them out. So make sure you try the salt water protocol. If that doesn't resolve I'd try boron if you have flouride symptoms. Also, I'd personally stick with the selenomethionine instead of methylselenocysteine as that will work for mercury.
hope this helps

Re: Drop in Basal Temp...
I just realized today that there are two swollen lymph nodes directly above my Adams apple. They are somewhat sensitive. I haven't been sick. Could this have something to do with my thyroid? Like I said, I know something has been 'off' for quite a while.
