Re: Supplement inquiry
Interesting. Astragulus is good stuff, but as I have been blabbing, Thymus beats it for immune support--since on thymus, my eyes are getting super white. Actually, the Enzymatic Therapy Thymulus supp I have has Astragulus. I took sylmarian for many years to support my liver while I abused it. Can't say it does much for hair, or has a notable effect at all, but the research shows it is a great, safe liver protector. Curcumin I actually don't take, although I like it, I just suspect it is bad for hair.
I wonder what the synergistic effect would be. Kinda pricey, though. If you can get it at Vitaminshoppe, you can at least exchange it if you don't like it. I just swapped out a big bottle of Acai (seemed like a fucking joke, unless I'm missing something) for some good resveratrol at vitaminshoppe.

Re: Supplement inquiry
blackjack - Considering just the astragaloside IV alone, which is sold as a telomerase activator at a cost higer than 27 shows a great deal. The amount of Astragaloise IV is more than used in the patent for Telomerase activation (50 to 100 mg). Plus you're getting a nice dose of Resveratrol at 75% Trans-isomer. Pretty good deal even without the Curcumin and Silymarin. I might give this a shot.

CS--
I wasn't aware of that component to Astragulus.
Does that mean your thoughts on Telemerase and hair growth have shifted from skeptic?

Re: Supplement inquiry
Gibson - I'm afraid as far as hair growth goes, I'm a bit of a skeptic on Telomerase activation. Part of the reason is because TERT, which is the protein component of telomerase is the driving force behind hair growth. Very few people have tried Astragalus IV, and some of the studies are interesting.
My general take is that most of us are already preventing premature senescence, via all the broad-based antioxidant intake. I find if I take enough Hyaluronic acid (internally) and take my usual antioxidants, I've got the aging clock in the freezer or maybe the refrigerator at least.

blackjack - I'm sure about the dosage part, almost seems like just one cap per day might be enough, just not certain.

Re: Supplement inquiry
Here's a thread on astragaloside IV and telomerase on imminist.org:

Seems like Blackjack stumbled upon something quite unique. That said, I am going to stick to the sidelines on the whole telomerase thing. Although it seems like thymus plays a role in telomerase expression:

Re: Supplement inquiry
BCM-95 seemed to deliver the goods, but unfortunately those goods were bad for my hair. I just don't see how a different brand would exert a different action other than being so ineffective that I can barely perceive what it is doing.
That said, there are several posters who have reported positive results from curcumin, so take what I have said with a grain of salt.

Re: Supplement inquiry
i found this on Astragaloside IV... any comments on this?

Health and Safety
We do not recommend Astragaloside IV for continual use at this time. It is a new supplement, and little is known about its long term effects. Until more is known, we believe the safest regimen would be to alternate between three month cycles of Astragaloside IV and Resveratrol for no longer than one year. At that point we recommend that you stop Astragaloside IV usage all together until more is known about this supplement.
We also suggest that our customers keep an eye on TA Science's "Patton Protocol", a protocol designed with safety in mind for TA-65, another telomerase activator. This protocol began as a pulsed program with three months on and three months off, but has now migrated to a one year on program with several two week breaks. TA Sciences was the first company to release a telomerase activator and we have a lot of respect for their expertise in that area.

Gibson, if I remember correctly, weren't you taking two of these LEF Super Bio curcumin capsules per day. Man, it's no wonder.
I, myself, found this particular brand of curcumin to be harmful.

So, is Thymus a good supp to add? It sounds like it is, I just don't want to have a killer immune system that goes after my hair.
What would you guys recommend?

Actually, i was taking 3. But since then, i have experimented with it quite a bit, usually just one. There's no doubt that it is bad for my hair. I've also got the Jarrow product. I've been messing with it a bit. It certainly doesn't provide the strength kick BCM did, but I guess that is a good thing. I started on the Jarrow product at three a day and now I'm just taking one . I'm a fan of curc for all of it's other health benefits, but since adding DIM, I think I may be covered sans curc, at least for what I am after, so I may drop it.
My hair has been quite st

2 3x per day.
It is for immune support, so it doesn't go after your hair.

Whip--
Just immune system support, but that is HUGE in my book and IME is a yardstick for inflammation, candida and much more.
