Flax Seeds..
Howdy folks.. I'm 26 and have diffuse loss ..patterned..
For the past two months I've been eating about 2 tablespoons of flax seeds before bed...
I recently discovered that the seeds contain cyanogenic glycosides which release cyanide...
I suffer from depersonalization disorder..and I began to worry...
any risks consuming the plain brown seeds? I believe I've noticed some benefit.

Re: Flax Seeds..
Roark - A few years ago I spoke to the flax seed council and they gave me some literature regarding this issue. It's not too much of a concern.
This here is taken from this site: http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=81
Safety
While flaxseeds contain cyanogenic glycosides compounds, at normal levels and without protein malnutrition, researchers currently maintain that this is not of concern and should cause no adverse effects (they consider 50 grams, which is more than 2 TBS, to be a safe amount for most people). The heat employed by cooking has been found to eliminate the presence of these compounds.
I've always used flax seed hull lignans, which are free of these, but I've since switched to 7-HMR or Spruce lignans

Re: Flax Seeds..
I've been searching the health food stores in my area..and can't find flax seed hull lignans. Can these only be acquired on the internet? Can anyone recommend an organic flax seed hull lignans product? Thanks folks!

Re: Flax Seeds..
Is this HMR Lignan a more effective product than the 7HMR lignans from Swanson's?
http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=7429450010081401409&at=0
It's much more expensive and I'm wondering if the standardized extract (standardized to 90% Hydroxymatairesinol potassium acetate complex (100 mg)) makes it more effective?
The Swansons is 40 mg and it just says "standardized extract of Picea abies".
Also, I understand that it is only necessary to take 7hmr once per day due to the long half life, but would taking 2 or 3 caps once per day be a more effective dose?
Any ideas on this one? Thanks.

Re: Flax Seeds..
johnt - Swanson's had the highest dose over others until LEF came out with this. You'll notice the price difference is pretty steep. No need to go with the Life extension product, it isn't necessary. Just one cap a day is A-OK.
