Coldsea krill vs Neptune

Astaxanthin levels
a. ColdSea Krill Oil Omega-3 has prioritized other criteria (phospholipid and Omega-3 content) than maximizing the astaxanthin levels because our current level is protecting the product sufficiently, which is the only proven effect of the astaxanthin at the levels in question. I.e. we are applying ethanol as the solvent, while we could achieve higher levels using more undesired solvents (such as acetone as it's done by the product You refer to). (NEPTUNE KRILL OIL NOW FOODS)
b. The astaxanthin in krill oil has a positive effect protecting against oxidation. Our stability data show no sign of oxidation at ambient temperature and our astaxanthin level is hence sufficient to protect the product.
c. Possible clinical effects of astaxanthin are associated with daily dosage up to 2-4 mg. (At that stage there is some documentation on positive retinal effect.). This is anyway far above the astaxanthin levels in both Neptune NKO krill oil and ColdSea Krill Oil Omega-3.
d. Synergistic effects between astaxanthin and the other ingredients in the krill oil have so far not been documented.
e. There is no documentation that esterified astaxanthin has different antioxidant properties than astaxanthin itself.

Re: Coldsea krill vs Neptune
One thing that bothers me about NKO, that there is acetone in it .. (??)
