Intermittent fasting: scalp itch
No posted in a while!
A bit of background info: had very bad scalp itch and also scalp acne around hairline, in crown and down sides of head. Cool rinses on my head helped with the itch, but never fully erased it.
I started intermittent fasting back in the summer, and started eating the majority of my calories in one meal on an evening.
I feel amazing doing this, and will continue to eat this way forever. (five days a week i also hit a deficit of 500 cals on my daily caloric needs)
About a month ago, I suddenly realised my scalp hadn't itched for a while.
Ive also noticed the inflammation in my scalp has reduced and co-incidently the scalp acne outbursts have reduced by half in their size and duration.
My complexion has improved
My digestion has improved incredibly
I'm not exactly sure why it's working. Maybe something to do with digestion.
Wondering if anyone else has tried/does intermittent fasting / eating one big meal a day ?? (whats your thoughts/experience)

Re: Intermittent fasting: scalp itch
John: This is a general outline, as I'm pretty flexible with it. (i find non-dogmatic approach helps)
Wake: 7:30am
During fast: I drink water, soda water, black coffee (not loads)
Break the fast 1pm: I'll usually eat some fruit or a light snack
Evening meal: anywhere from 5:30 to 9pm. I eat the rest of my daily calories, plenty of carbs, fats and protein. I also have a sweet tooth, and don't shy away from cake, chocolate, ice-cream.
Side note: I've dropped over 2 stone since living like this.

Re: Intermittent fasting: scalp itch
I've been intermittent fasting for more than eight years, along with endogenous hormone secretagogues. It's the best thing I ever did for my health. Yeah scalp and gut health is better for me too.
I also incorporate some of the best parts of a ketogenic diet and scrapped the rest. My only true rules of thumb is getting .8g/lb of protein daily, ketones from coconut and palm, and limit my refined carbs and consume mostly fibrous veggies instead. I drink at least 64ounces of water during my fasting window and pure caffeine before my workouts. And my eating window is usually 5 hours, from 5PM till 10PM. What I love is being able to cheat hard every once in a while and continue to maintain low body fat. If you search the forum, I have talked about it in the past.

I'd like to try this but I don't think I'd be hungry enough to eat like 2000 calories at one meal

4039: Yeah agree, my bodyfat has dropped insanely, I've not lost any strength either. Previously going on diets, i would feel weak and pathetic - and struggled to sleep.
With IF, I feel totally relaxed/balanced - again not sure of the science behind it all, but I feel really vital and centred.
"endogenous hormone secretagogues" —what's this?
John: I don't think IF or calorie restriction is for everyone, but you'd be surprised at what 2000 calories can look
like when you get the carbs/fat/protein right.
Things like Steak, chips, cheese burgers, curry, naked-burritos, fatty-beef stews, english fry-up — all really tasty foods, and it seems to suit me eating my calories worth in one.

Re: Intermittent fasting: scalp itch
Hello, I got interested in intermittent fasting for the human growth hormone (HGH) boosting benefits. They have lab measured that HGH levels can rise up to 2000% after I think 18 hours of fasting. There is plenty about it on you tube.
I live in a country where one can buy HGH injections in a pharmacy without prescription. One of my friends that was about 60 went on it, he lost weight and gained muscle very quickly. His energy and ambition to exercise were dramatically increased. So for sure HGH is a major body changer. I would not recommend injections .

For the scalp itch I would spend the $10 and get some tea tree oil and treat for demodex mites. There are large forums about the itch, mites and MPB.
What I am wondering is if I would get the same HGH benefits if I drank fruit juice during the 18 hours, or if only water is necessary. I have not stuck to the 18 + hour fasting with no juice so I do not know the results. I have done 13 days just drinking juice. Great for cleaning out the body, now a few weeks later I am getting regrowth with DT massage, so maybe it did help.
