CS - Can excessive magnesium supplement lead to hair loss or shedding?
This is a hypothetical question, which I think is affecting my health. Could it be possible for one to take too much magnesium? Ever since I started taking magnesium, I have felt dull throughout the day. Anhedonia is a medical term for emotional flatness, which is what I am experiencing right now. Recently, I purchased transdermal magnesium lotion (magnesium chloride) and started applying them before sleep. Even after sleeping 8.5 hours, my body feels like it has been knocked out, similar to the effect from anesthesia. I can cope with emotional flatness, but I am wondering if too much magnesium can cause hair loss for some people.
Also, after applying transdermal magnesium, it has been more difficult for me to fall asleep and I get more vivid dreams in the morning before waking up. When I worked out yesterday, my muscles felt like they were asleep; it was very difficult for me to do aerobic exercises (running/cycling) and high rep resistance training. The only thing I have changed for the past three days was adding magnesium lotion, so I know for sure that this is the culprit. Is there such thing as taking too much magnesium, which could potentially lead to health damage, resulting in more hair loss?
For those who are interested, here's a quick diagram that shows interaction between magnesium and other minerals/vitamins.
