My tongue seems to be always coated white. Sometimes it's darker. I heard that this indicates that something is not quite right but I feel perfectly fine. Supposedely you should brush your tongue when you brush your teeth but this always made be gag. What does a coated tongue mean?

agree. candida probably... Several years ago I also had coated tongue went to a ND who prescribed antifungal diflucan. His theory was that certain drugs are ok for short times if used for a strategic reason. Id tried 5 or 6 natural antifungals with some improvement, but couldnt totally clear it. Several days into the diflucan I had itching all over for a day, and then a sore throat for several days. My thinking became clearer, I was able to smell scents again, sinusitis gone, eyes less dry, and the tongue coating went away. While on it I took probiotics to recolonize the gut terrain left behind by the dead candida, and after the course continued to take herbal antifungals to keep it clear. Id also done quite a bit of legwork ie chelation and detox prior to that. His thinking was that the drugs achieve a quick major knockdown, with low safety risk. Have to admit I kind of agree with him that sometimes antimicrobial drugs have a use, it couldve taken me months or years to clear it with herbs. But theres no point in taking anything for it unless you've done extensive legwork to change the terrain so that it won't just recolonize. He had an order to which microbes caused the most inflammation and altered the terrain the most for their benefit. Parasites particularly challenge and alter the immune system, along with bacteria. Candida and viruses were lower on the list, mostly exploiting.

Interesting. Thanks for this. I will have to try some probiotics first to see if there is an improvement. Don't really wanna see my doc just for a coated tongue...seems kinda trite.
