Re: HMR Lignans: Why was it dropped
eric - 7-HMR (Spruce lignans) was dropped only to make room for something that does a lot more good.
Personally I've had no problems with 7-HMR whatsoever. For reasons unknown some users felt it didn't work for them.
Here's a basic comparison between 7-HMR and BCM-95 Bio-Curcumin.
7-HMR
Improves positive estrogen metabolism by preventing potent estrogens (E2) and exerting weaker (positive estrogen activity), inhibits DHT and reduces both cardiovascular and hormone-based cancer mortality.
BCM-95 Bio-Curcumin
Strongly inhibits exogenous 17-beta estradiol
Inhibits TGF-beta (transforming growth factor)
Inhibits MMP-9 (Matrix metallopeptidase 9)
Inhibits Glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK-3) - Cardioprotective, reduces sebum, frees up Wnt signaling
Transient potential vanilloid receptor 1 (TRPV1) agonist - Combats neurogenic/neurotrophic inflammation
May alleviate stressed-induced hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis dysfunction
Inhibits inhibit lipoxygenase activity (LOX) and modulates COX
Inhibits glutamate toxicity, hydroxyl radicals and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2)
Inhibits DHT

Man that's an impressive list. When you say exogenous estradiol, does that mean estrogen mimickers like xenoestrogens/candida? I've had a hard time finding out if Curcumin is a straight up aromatase inhibitor.

Re: HMR Lignans: Why was it dropped
Joejoebaggins - I will revise that statement about exogenous 17-beta estradiol. Curcumin only displaces these estrogens (introduced from outside the body and/or xenoestrogens). Curcumin does not actually alter estrogen levels, but it has been shown to reduce prolactin levels.
Re: HMR Lignans: Why was it dropped
is there a need to add lignans if we already use BCM-95 Bio-Curcumin ?

Re: HMR Lignans: Why was it dropped
same question: would it be an overkill to take both the lignans and the curcumin ?

Re: HMR Lignans: Why was it dropped
i don't know how it could be overkill ??? my question is more ; "could it be usefull or is there no sense to add it"
the regimen is quite expensive, there s no need to take supplmeents if not necessary...

Re: HMR Lignans: Why was it dropped
julien 1200 - The lignans work in a different manner so it wouldn't hurt, but it would not be necessary either.
Re: HMR Lignans: Why was it dropped
I recently was on the lignans for little over a month.
My conclusion is confirmed that, for me, at one a day it negatively impacts my hair. One a day also drives my libido down. I seem to pass a threshold when on it where libido gets affected--first goes up, then stays down.
I think BCM-95 in place of 7-hmr is a good move.

PS--the above is repeat experience.

Do we have any idea how much each positive effect is? Like in procent or something? Does it inhibit in both blood and tissue?

Re: HMR Lignans: Why was it dropped
Misirlou - In some cases yes, but would take some digging to sort all of that out. However, one thing is clear that taking Curcumin over a period of time will work much better than taking it just for a week or two. Ecklonia Cava is more powerful than Curcumin in some areas, but Curcumin will do many things that EC will not.
Also, Curcumins effect on TRPV1 is partially dependent on Resveratrol.
