It doesn't matter which meal, the half-life is very long, the most important thing is to take with a fatty meal.

Wearing my "evolutionary hat" I would say better to take in the morning, since that it when the sun comes out and the body is "used to" receiving it's D.

Actually I thought the other way
maybe better in the evening because you already receive some vitamin D from the sun in the day while the evening you don't ...
but that's just an assumption

what does it mean typically ? I didn't understand correctly (I'm not used to read those kind of scientific things)

"Higher calcium and vitamin D intake at a breakfast meal acutely increased postprandial FOR and DIT over two successive meals, and reduced spontaneous energy intake in the subsequent 24 h period."
My translation: Vit D and Calcium taken with breakfast increase fat-burning during the next two meals and decrease appetite / unnecessary eating ("spontaneous energy intake") over the next 24 hours.
