Iodine and grey hair

Some months ago I had a grey hair on my chin and decided to try plucking it and putting iodine where I removed the hair from... Well, for a long time afterwards I didn't notice any grey hair. Normally when I pluck a facial hair further up my face, they grow back annoyingly fast. However now another grey hair has appeared on my chin, though I'm not sure if it's the same one or not.
I don't have enough grey hairs to test this easily, so wondered if someone else wanted to try. I suppose the iodine might stain other grey hairs, so a body hair might be ideal for testing.
