Fascinating studies, I don't know why CS warns against emodin from Resveratrol, probably because of diarrhea? Based on this studies you might get additional benefits if you take 50% Resveratrol from Japanese Knotweed.

Unfortunately it looks like emodin also blocks both estrogen receptors:

Emodin and 2,6-dihydroxyanthraquinone also inhibited 17beta-estradiol binding to human estrogen receptors (ERs) with K(i) values of 0.77 and 0.31microM for ERalpha and 1.5 and 0.69 microM for ERbeta

Yes, that's the reason...however...I did read about the emodin sometime after...And a lot of people are not that sensitive to emodin. So, unless it causes a loose stool, not much of an issue.
